There was one final
application for £12,000 to the Community Regeneration
Fund to enable the association to install a Youth Shelter
in the Community Park, providing shelter and a place
for older kids to hangout.
The Community Park
was designed to encourage children of all ages to play,
as a group and individually, to be exciting and challenging
promoting physical exercise. The park was also designed
to encourage parental involvement, by having areas parents
and adults can relax and ensure their children play safely.
There are
areas of planting (and an orchard still to come)
encouraging biodiversity. A good deal of the materials
used to make the park have been recycled including
the picnic area and the colourful safety surface
which surrounds the play equipment, which is made
from recycled car tyres. |
|
| There
is a fantastic array of play equipment, climbing
frames, swings, roundabouts and trampolines. One
of the main features is the Multi-Sport Court designed
to encourage team play through the use of ball sports. |
|
| At
the entrance to the park is a Sensory Garden of
raised flower beds and once again a seating are
for adults. The whole park is illuminated through
the dark winter nights by wind and solar powered
lights. This is truly an inspirational play area
and we now see, by the numbers of children using
the park, just how successful and needed it is. |
