People First Cliffburn (PFC) was launched on 22 November 2004 by the management committee of ARCH to improve the quality of life and social opportunity for all members ofthe community, particularly focusing on youngsters, older people, or those disadvantaged by circumstance. People First Cliffburn successfully gained Charitable Status in October 2005. This was a very positive move forward improving the oranisations ability to raise much needed funding both locally and through National Charitable Trusts. |

PFC has taken over the human side of the regeneration process in Cliffburn and Hayshead from sister organisation ARCH. PFC is looking to identify the wants and needs of the community, through surveys and research, which will enable projects to be established to meet these needs. Regeneration is not just about bricks and mortar. The area lacks suitable locations from which to organise meaningful activities. The young and older people in the area rightly feel there are no interesting activities available to them.
People First Cliffburn -Aims
The aim is to provide projects, activities and initiatives for the benefit of the community of Cliffburn and Hayshead. Focusing on social, educational, economic and health standards within the area and encouraging other organisations to do the same.
Back in 2006, PFC took a major step forward by raising funds to employ its first member of staff. This was a big step for a small organisation, but was seen as key to future development. This has enabled the organisation to start to meet some of its aims. It is also important that there is a clear distinction between the role of the residents association ARCH and that of the Charitable organisation PFC.
New trustees or management committee members are continually needed to revitalise PFC and bring new ideas. If you feel you have some time to spare and would like to improve your community, contact us on the comtact page here. People sometimes coment they do not have the knowledge or skills to be on a management committee, but all that is really required is a desire to improve the local area and the commitment to support the activities that can bring about these improvements.
