The Community Office provides a point of contact enabling residents to find out what is going on in the local area and raise points of concern. Open hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 4:30pm It holds information, leaflets and application forms for many different organisations that provide services or ‘care in the community’. Angus Housing Association and Hillcrest Housing Association supply information to be displayed, on new builds and planned regeneration. The office also provides general office services for the community including photocopying, laminating and free internet access. A number of groups hold meetings and surgeries in the office including Angus Council Housing officer, NHS health groups and local Councillor Sheena Welsh.

The same management committee has, up to now, organised both organisations but we are always looking for keen volunteers to bring new ideas into the organisation. Since being established PFC  has provided a number of social activities for the community including Fun Days, children’s Christmas parties and activities for over the school holidays. For the over sixties there have been day trips, bingo and Christmas lunches.  Both PFC and ARCH organise local fund raising events to enable these activities to be carried out.

People First Cliffburn has recently taken on the responsibility of employing their own Community Development Worker. This post was originally provided by Angus Housing Association with money from Communities Scotland. The funding lasted for four years and ran out at the end of 2006. Since then, we have managed to secure further funding to keep the Development Worker in post until the middle  of 2008.

It is worth pointing out that neither organisation could provide the service without the support of local volunteers. If you feel you would like to find out more about the organisation or have some free time and would like to volunteer please contact the Mayfield office. You can get the details by going to the contact page.
