Demolition of Mayfield Flats

The long awaited demolition of the Mayfield Flats will bring major changes to the look of the entrance to the estate of Cliffburn. Angus Council have secured £986,000 from the Housing Estates Regeneration Fund to carry out a three stage development.

• Stage 1: To Demolish the properties 36-53 Mayfield Terrace
• Stage 2: Remove the derelict flats above the Mayfield Shops and re-roof the shops
• Stage 3: Carry out environmental improvements to the surrounding area

ARCH/PFC have been asked to carryout the community consultation with the aim recording community views. These views will be recorded and used to influence planning process.

Proposed Community Facility
Up-date of the community centre

Over the past couple years one of the aims of the association has been to build and run a community centre. This is because there are limited facilities available in the area from which social activities can be organised and carried out. This would have major benefits for all age groups. The actual design of the centre is as yet, not confirmed. A feasibility study was carried out by a consultant to look at how the building should look and how it could be sustained into the foreseeable future.

This work is almost complete, but sustainability is still a major issue, how you raise the running cost but not overcharge people who want to use the services.
It is also important to provide the right type of activity for different age groups and tastes which is key, if you want the facility to be well used.
More information on this project is available in the community office including a ground plan.
